Dr Satvika Burugupalli

PhD, University of Melbourne

My current research focuses on identifying novel lipid and genetic signatures of metabolic disease in early childhood. I completed my PhD in 2018 in organic chemistry at the University of Melbourne, under the supervision of Professor Spencer Williams. My PhD work explored the synthesis and immunology of mycobacterial lipid antigens. This work has been published and presented at national and international conferences.

I completed a Bachelor in Pharmacy at Osmania University (India) where I was one of the top ranked students of the year 2009. I then undertook a Masters in Pharmaceutical Chemistry at Fairleigh Dickinson University (USA). During my time in the states, I also worked as a research assistant at the City University of New York (CUNY), where I was involved in designing new synthetic strategies for the development of isoquinoline-based drug moieties.

Additionally, I worked as adjunct faculty at Berkeley College and CUNY where I instructed in chemistry, pharmacology and microbiology.
