FlexIT is designed for people with type 1 diabetes who are managing on basal bolus insulin therapy. The two-day program aims to teach participants how to best match insulin requirements to their food and lifestyle for a more flexible approach to diabetes management.
Each small group program is presented by an experienced Diabetes Educator and Dietitian. Practical advice and personalised feedback is provided.
Topics include:
- Insulin adjustment for food and physical activity.
- Carbohydrate counting, including practical activities.
- Diabetes health targets and checks.
- Hypoglycaemia, hyperglycaemia and sick day management.
Flash glucose monitor trial
We have an exciting opportunity for FlexIT participants who are not already using the Abbott Freestyle Libre to take part in a clinical trial. Participants will be given an Abbott Libre Flash Glucose Monitoring System during the FlexIT course.
Participants will be set up with one reader and one sensor at the end of day 1 and required to come back for a one on one appointment with a Diabetes Nurse Educator to set up the second sensor (after 2 weeks).
This clinical trial is voluntary and you will obtain the Libre Flash Glucose System free of charge.
