The Vacation internship program is offered by the Baker Heart and Diabetes Institute to provide promising undergraduate students a paid opportunity to experience a career in research, by engaging in diverse research environment through one of our selected laboratories at the Baker Institute. The program is designed to attract potential students to continue in a research career enrolling in honours, masters and PhD.
Students who have made contact with a participating lab and selected into the program will be given a unique opportunity to become part of a research team as a vacation intern.
Vacation Interns will receive:
- 6-week (or equivalent) research laboratory experience (public holidays excluded).
- AU$500 payment per week (note: accommodation and/or travel costs are not covered).
Who can apply?
- Undergraduate students in the final year of their course, undertaking a science, biomedicine or health science related degree.
How are students selected?
- interest in a research career
- strong undergraduate marks
- alignment of research interests and laboratory focus.
Application reviewers will consider whether an applicant has contacted their preferred laboratory/laboratories about participating in the Vacation Internship Program.
