Systems Medicine and Bioinformatics
Mei completed her Bachelor of Science in Bioinformatics at the University of Macau in 2023. Her research investigated the role of the histone methyltransferase NSD3 and histone variant H2A.Z in pancreatic neuroendocrine tumor tumorigenesis using integrative genomics and epigenomics data.
In 2025, Mei earned her master’s degree in bioinformatics at the University of Copenhagen, Denmark. Her master’s research focused on using genomics and proteomic data to investigate biological mechanisms underlying venous thromboembolism risk and prioritised candidate biomarkers linked to disease susceptibility.
In March 2026, Mei joined the Systems Medicine and Bioinformatics laboratory at the Baker Heart and Diabetes Institute to pursue a PhD program under the supervision of Dr Corey Giles, Professor Peter Meikle, and Dr Tingting Wang. Currently, she is developing a research program to identify causal lipid pathways in cardiometabolic diseases, understanding how genetic variation influences lipid metabolism and disease risk, and developing multi-omics risk scores to improve disease risk prediction. Findings from this research will deepen the understanding of the role of lipids in cardiometabolic diseases.
