Della Wang is a PhD student in diabetes epidemiology under the supervision of Prof Dianna Magliano, Prof Jonathan Shaw, and Dr Jed Morton since 2024. She holds a Bachelor of Medicine and completed her Master of Public Health at the University of Hong Kong in 2020. Then, she worked as a research assistant for around 3 years accumulating experience in data analysis and field research.

Her current research focuses on leveraging large population-based surveys, cohort studies, and registry data to investigate novel aspects of diabetes, including:

  1. Incidence patterns: trends in diabetes incidence during the COVID-19 pandemic.
  2. Risk factors: the role of fat distribution measured by MRI, DXA, BIA, and anthropometry.
  3. Complications: emerging complications such as anaemia, as well as traditional complications and relevant mortality in the context of COVID-19.

Her work aims to quantify the impact of emerging contexts on diabetes-related burden, and to advance understanding of diabetes development and progression, providing evidence to guide public health policy and clinical management during future health crises.
