Getu D. Demissie is a PhD student in the School of Psychology and Public Health at La Trobe University. His PhD research focuses on the long-term effectiveness of a structured lifestyle interventions in reducing cardiovascular risk in low- and middle-income countries. He is also an assistant researcher and team member for NCDs and Implementation science lab at Baker Heart and Diabetes Institute.

Getu served as a lecturer of health promotion, health communication and qualitative research at institute of public health, University of Gondar, Ethiopia. He published more than 34 publications in reputable journals. Getu's research interests include public health, behavioral science, health promotion and communication, implementation science and prevention and self-management of non-communicable diseases.
