Haoyun Alexandra Fang completed her Bachelor of Biomedicine and Master of Biomedical Science at the University of Melbourne. She joined the Molecular Proteomics laboratory in 2019, where she has developed and applied quantitative mass spectrometry-based proteomics to investigate complex cellular systems, including cardiac remodelling, therapeutic regulation and cell signalling. Her research contributions include proteomic and multi-omic analyses in a translational model of reperfused myocardial infarction, supporting the identification of macrophage-associated inflammatory and tissue-remodelling responses modulated by CD14 blockade.

In 2022, she commenced her PhD applying spatial subcellular proteomics to define pathological cardiac remodelling. Her work integrates tissue fractionation and organelle enrichment, high-resolution quantitative proteomics, spatial validation and machine-learning analysis to resolve subcellular rearrangements and organellar proteome changes in the heart. This has contributed to a chamber-resolved nuclear proteome map of the mouse heart, identifying conserved and region-specific nuclear programs across atrial and ventricular compartments. She has also developed Dual-Lipa, a sequential lipid–proteomic analytical pipeline that couples tissue-wide subcellular fractionation with integrated proteome–lipidome profiling. This workflow maps coordinated protein and lipid networks across 14 cardiac subcellular niches, infers spatial lipid localisation from proteomic landmarks, and reveals sex-dependent differences in cardiac metabolism, mitochondrial function, immune regulation and signalling. Together, these studies establish a systematic spatial multi-omic framework for understanding cardiac molecular organisation in health and disease.
