Obesity is now a global health crisis. One in eight people worldwide are living with it — and the consequences reach far beyond weight alone. Obesity significantly increases the risk of type 2 diabetes, heart disease and a range of other serious conditions, making it one of the most complex public health challenges of our time.

At the Baker Institute, we know that tackling obesity requires more than a single perspective. That is why our program brings together clinical researchers, public health experts and laboratory scientists with expertise across molecular profiling, animal models, clinical trials and implementation science. Working as one team, we are addressing the health challenges driven by the obesity epidemic from every angle — understanding its biological drivers, testing new interventions and translating evidence into real-world impact.

Because the problem still exists. And we are not stopping until we find better answers.
