We are seeking a passionate, people‑focused People Experience Business Partner to join our collaborative and engaged People Experience team.

This is a true partnering role where you will work closely with leaders across the Institute to deliver an outstanding end‑to‑end people experience. You’ll provide practical and trusted advice across employee and industrial relations, workforce matters, engagement initiatives, people programs while contributing to continuous improvement and future‑focused people initiatives and assist with talent.

You will also enable confident leadership, strengthen capability and help shape a positive, inclusive and high‑performing workplace aligned to organisational values.

How you’ll make an impact 

  • Partner with leaders and lab heads to deliver proactive, commercially sound people advice that strengthens performance, capability and leadership effectiveness.
  • Lead complex employee relations matters end-to-end, including performance, conduct and team dynamics, enabling confident, consistent leadership.
  • Provide expert guidance on employment legislation, enterprise agreements and policy to support sound, risk-aware decision making.
  • Build trusted relationships across a diverse stakeholder group, influencing outcomes in a complex research and professional services environment.
  • Support workforce planning and organisational design aligned to funding models, research priorities and future capability needs.
  • Use data and insights to identify trends, inform decisions and drive continuous improvement in people experience.
  • Lead sensitive workplace matters and investigations with professionalism, sound judgement and a people-centred approach.
  • Contribute to people initiatives that enhance engagement, psychosocial safety and overall employee experience.
  • Collaborate closely with the People Experience team to deliver consistent, high-quality services and support talent outcomes.

About you

You’ll bring a strong foundation of technical people expertise, combined with genuine care for people and the confidence to partner strategically with leaders to achieve positive outcomes.

You will have:

  • Relevant qualifications and/or experience in Human Resources or a related discipline.
  • Experience in a generalist HR or HR Business Partner role.
  • Sound understanding of employment legislation, enterprise agreements and industrial frameworks.
  • Proven ability to build trusted relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • A customer‑centric mindset with a passion for positive employee experience.
  • Strong communication, consulting and problem‑solving skills.
  • Excellent organisation and time management skills, with attention to detail.
  • A proactive, flexible approach and a collaborative working style.
