The opportunity

We are looking for an experienced OHS Coordinator to join our Facilities, Operations and HSSE (Health, Safety, Security and Environment) team on a part time basis for a 1-year fixed term contract. The main function of the role is to coordinate specific OHS management systems and programs at Baker Institute sites.

The successful applicant will be highly motivated, an excellent communicator with the ability to multitask in a high-pressure environment.

The Facilities, Operations and HSSE team provides specialist advice, direction, and support to management, staff, and students to ensure compliance with the Institute’s OHS policies and procedures, and applicable legislation (including maintenance of permits and licences), and to promote and encourage awareness of health and safety standards.

Key duties

In this role you will be expected to:

  • Coordinate and maintain the audit and inspection program.
  • Assist with the training program.
  • Assist with the coordination of the chemical management program.
  • Maintenance of the Risk assessment register.
  • Support general team administrative tasks.

Skills and experience

You will have:

  • Certificate IV OHS, or completing Cert IV.
  • Experience working in a research laboratory environment (desirable).
  • Knowledge of legislation, regulations, and practices governing workplace health and safety.
  • Demonstrated ability to be a proactive team member and contribute to team development.
