Dr Alex Huang

Dr Alex Huang is a general cardiologist with subspeciality expertise in cardiac imaging. He is experienced in all aspects of general cardiology and has a particular interest in prevention and maintaining cardiometabolic health.
Alex graduated from the University of Auckland and underwent his cardiology training at the Alfred Hospital and Royal North Shore Hospital (Sydney). He then completed an Echocardiography fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School in Boston, USA, and a Cardiac CT and MRI fellowship at St. Paul’s Hospital, University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada.
Alex has a longstanding interest in cardiometabolic health. His PhD focused on understanding how lowering cholesterol (through inhibition of PCSK9) reduces the risk of heart attack, and he also completed a postdoctoral research fellowship at Boston University, examining the vascular consequences of insulin resistance.
