Institute news
This week (10–16 February) is Smart Eating Week, an initiative by the Dietitians Association of Australia that is run by Accredited Practising Dietitians. As part of Smart Eating Week, Dietitians at the Baker Institute are focusing on portion sizes.
Did you know? Most dinner plates and bowls are too large, making portion control challenging. Having the right size plate makes it easier to avoid overfilling your plate and your stomach. For more useful information, see the Plating it up fact sheet.
For the month of February, we encourage you to aim for a dinner plate or bowl to be less than 25cm wide and to include: ½ a plate of raw or cooked vegetables, ¼ plate of low-GI carbohydrates and ¼ plate lean protein.
Are you up for the challenge?
